The small town Kenchester is roughly five miles from Hereford

A damaged milestone was discovered in the late 18th century in the foundations of the north wall of the town, which is thought to date from around AD 283. The inscription is of huge importance as it is inscribed with the name of the Emperor Numerian who ruled in AD283/4, and no other such inscription has been found to date in Britain.
