St. Bartholomew’s Church – Ashperton

The font of St. Bartholomew is dated 13^th century, so was from the original church.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Memorials

Inside the church is a fascinating coat of arms, which are those of 15^th century Plantagenet monarchs with the Royal Arms carved back to front – it is believed that Margaret of Anjou (Henry VIs queen) had them made after the House of York was declared to be traitorous .
