The village of Mathon was originally cut in half by the boundary between Herefordshire and Worcestershire, but most of the original village now lies in Herefordshire. In 1894 by order of the local government, the parish was divided into Mathon Rurban which is in Worcestershire, and Mathon Rural which is in Herefordshire.
Mathon is famous for the “Mathon White” hop, as well as for cider and perry.
