Peterchurch is a very large village in the spectacularly beautiful Golden Valley.

This village was home to Private Robert Jones VC, a hero of Rorke’s Drift – the major battle in South Africa of the Anglo Zulu war of 1879.  He and his comrades successfully defended their station against numerous attacks by around 3.5000 Zulu warriors.  For more information go to Robert Jones on the right of this page
